Bryce Ives has led a diverse and interdisciplinary career, defined largely by advocating for the sustainability of Australia’s artists and creative communities. Integral to this has been a championing of the perspectives of young Australians and a constant striving towards equity and equality.
Bryce’s professional experience includes working across the Australian arts, agriculture, music, media and broadcasting industries as well as community and youth development. He is the current Artistic Director of Theatre Works St.Kilda, Chief Facilitator of the ABC’s Heywire Regional Youth program and the Artistic Director of the Fairfax Youth Initiative across the Swan Hill Murray Malley Region.
As co-founder of the Present Tense ensemble, Bryce has produced a unique body of performance work in collaboration with some of Australia’s most significant arts organisations. In his role as Director of the Arts Academy Ballarat, Bryce led a large-scale program of curriculum renewal and community engagement, restructuring and reshaping over 160 Creative Arts courses for Federation University Australia.
Bryce remains an ongoing contributor within the ABC and an advocate for the Australian community broadcasting sector. He is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts, alumni of the Directors Lab Chicago and is currently completing his Masters at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts.
